The Artist by Tchekov, adapted by Miles Malleson
Corfield Hall, Taunton, March 1st 1952,
and Bridgwater Town Hall, March 22nd 1952,
where it reached the final of the County Drama Festival. There were 34 entries
in the Festival that year, the preliminary rounds of which were held over
nine days. The Producer took the part of Lydia in the final, due to Miss Marfell’s
indisposition, at very short notice. It won and went on to the Divisional
Final at St Andrew’s
Hall, Taunton, on 18th April, with Miss Taylor continuing
in the role.
