End of an Era
With the fall of the curtain on Saturday night, the long association of the Taunton Thespians with the Corfield Hall comes to an end. For over twenty-five years the Society has enjoyed the co-operation afforded by the St Mary’s Hall Committee, and more particularly by the Vicar, Rev. Desmond Morey. There has been a refreshing absence of petty restrictions imposed in some other venues, and requests were always sympathetically considered. There have been new stage curtains and improved seating, to the cost of which the Society made a modest contribution as a parting gift. There will be on Saturday, moments of nostalgia, thanks for the past and best wishes for the continuance of the service which the Corfield Hall has given to the community.
A New Era
And so to a new venue, the new Taunton Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre to be opened at the end of March. The Thespians will be among the first occupants since their next production “The School for Scandalwill be presented there from 9th – 13th May. The move to this attractive new home with its modern amenities for both actors and audience comes at an appropriate time; for the Society is now entering on the 50th year of its existence.
